About Swami Vivekananda
Narendra Nath Dutta was the pre-monastic name of Swami Vivekananda. He was born in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) on January 12, 1863, and passed away there on July 4, 1902. His mother's name was Bhuvaneshwari Devi, and his father's name was Vishwanath Dutta. He came from a wealthy household. His family's financial foundation was destroyed when his father unexpectedly passed away when he was a little boy, forcing them into poverty. Despite having a solid academic record, he struggled for a very long period to find employment. He used to knock on doors and ask for a job, but he never got one, so he stopped believing in God.
He was given the name "Shri Ramkrishna Paramhamsa" by one of his English instructors, and in 1881, he met Shri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa at the Kali temple in Dakshineshwar and became a follower of Saint Ramakrishna Paramhamsa.
