Northeast India's political landscape suffered a significant transformation in 1972. The Sub-State of Meghalaya, the two Union Territories of Manipur and Tripura, and both acquired statehood. Tripura, Manipur, and Meghalaya, the three North Eastern states, commemorated their 50th Foundation Day on Friday with a variety of festivities and programs.
