Indian Newspaper Day
Every year, Indian Newspaper Day is observed to honour the founding of the country's first newspaper. The first printed newspaper in India and Asia was the English weekly "Hicky's Bengal Gazette." On January 29, 1780, an Irishman founded it. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of newspapers and motivate readers to pick one up and read it every day.
