World Teacher’s Day 

Every year on October 5, World Teachers' Day is observed to honour all teachers worldwide. It marks the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which establishes benchmarks for teachers' initial preparation and continuing education, recruitment, employment, and conditions for teaching and learning. The Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel was adopted in 1997 to add coverage of teaching personnel in higher education to the Recommendation from 1966. Since 1994, World Teachers' Day has been observed. It's a day to recognise the ways in which teachers are improving education, but it's also a day to consider the support they need to use their skills and vocation to the fullest, and to reconsider the future of the profession on a worldwide scale.

History   
In recognition of teachers everywhere in the world, various types of days have been established. When numerous local instructors were honoured in the 19th century, the concept gained popularity. Although they may have occurred on different days, they all involved the celebration and appreciation of teachers.

All of this led to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) declaring October 5, 1994, as the first World Teachers' Day. Teachers from all across the world who have excelled expectations for the profession are recognised with various ceremonies and awards. Special educators can enter competitions in many nations to compete for the prestigious Teacher of the Year award. More than 100 nations now observe World Teachers' Day.
