Under the banner of freedom, a large number of people from various places, classes, castes, and religions came together in this mass movement. It was a moral victory that gave Indians hope and confidence while exposing the cruelty and injustice of the British rule. The Dandi March was a demonstration for liberty, justice, and peace in addition to salt.
On October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi also referred to as the "father of the nation" was born. Because he was an honest man who practised what he taught, he was affectionately called as "Bapu." Gandhi fought for India's independence from the British empire throughout his whole life. His birthday is a significant national holiday in India.
